[SMM Survey] Hydrogen Energy Weekly Electrolyzer Industry Review (20251031-1106)

Capacity side, the domestic alkaline electrolyzer market was maintained at 43.77 GW based on incomplete statistics, with no new capacity added.

This week, public information showed thatSany Hydrogen successfully completed the delivery of two major projects: the Shenzhen Energy Ordos Banner wind-solar hydrogen integration for green ammonia synthesis project and the Jidian Yancheng green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling, and application integrated demonstration project. Sany Hydrogen provided 12 alkaline electrolyzers with a capacity of 1,000 Nm³/h for the Shenzhen Energy Ordos Banner project, and 8 alkaline electrolyzers with a capacity of 1,000 Nm³/h for the Jidian Yancheng project.

Previous delivery updates:Hydrogen Hui Energy shipped three megawatt-scale PEM electrolyzers to Europe, though specific shipment data was not disclosed.

Sany Hydrogen successfully completed the delivery of two major projects for Shenzhen Energy Ordos Banner and Jidian Yancheng green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling, and application integration, totaling 20 alkaline electrolyzers with a capacity of 1,000 Nm³/h.

Accelera, under Cummins, delivered a 35 MW PEM electrolyzer system to Linde Group's under-construction green hydrogen plant at Niagara Falls, New York.

Guofu Hydrogen successfully shipped a 10 Nm³/h hydrogen production unit and a 10 kW fuel cell combined heat and power system to the Morocco Clean Hydrogen Center of Excellence.

Peric Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd. (Handan) under the 718th Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation completed the final shipping and loading of 10 electrolyzers (total 50 MW, each 1,000 Nm³/h), which were officially dispatched from Lianyungang Port to Piraeus Port, Greece.

The 10,000 Nm³/h electrolyzer awarded in Sany Hydrogen's Shenzhen Energy Ordos Banner wind-solar hydrogen integration for green ammonia synthesis project was successfully shipped.

CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co., Ltd. officially dispatched 13 self-developed 1,000 Nm³/h electrolyzers for gradual delivery to the Guohua Cangzhou "Green Port Hydrogen City" project.

The 50 Nm³/h water electrolysis product supplied by Guofu Hydrogen for the TNB-PCSS green hydrogen demonstration project of Malaysia's national power grid has been successfully shipped to Shanghai Port.

Winshi Hydrogen successfully shipped an AEM hydrogen production system to Austria.

As of September 25, 2025, domestic enterprises (including overseas deliveries) delivered a total of 365.85 MW of alkaline electrolyzers in Q2 (data sourced from public information and SMM survey statistics).

Electrolyzer project related updates:

Yan'an Energy Baoqing Fine Chemicals Technology Development Co., Ltd.:The Yan'an, Shaanxi new energy water electrolysis hydrogen production project with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per hour obtained filing approval. The project involves a total investment of 380 million yuan and plans to construct 20 hydrogen production electrolyzers of 1,000 Nm³/h, 2 hydrogen purification units of 1,000 Nm³/h, and 1 hydrogen compression unit.

Zhongtian Chuanghe:Zhongtian Chuanghe Ordos coal chemical project announced the tender results for water electrolyzers/alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production (1,000–1,500 Nm³/h). The shortlisted candidates were Xi'an LONGi Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd., Sany Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd., and Huadian Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. The tender was for 48 alkaline electrolyzers with a capacity range of 1,000–1,500 Nm³/h.

Jilin Electric Power Co., Ltd.:Jilin Electric Power Co., Ltd. issued a tender for alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment for its Lishu wind-solar green hydrogen and biomass coupled green methanol project. Section 1 includes 12 alkaline electrolyzers of 1,000 Nm³/h and 3 gas-liquid separation skids of 4,000 Nm³/h; Section 2 includes 16 alkaline electrolyzers of 1,000 Nm³/h, 1 alkaline electrolyzer of 4,000 Nm³/h, and 3 gas-liquid separation skids of 4,000 Nm³/h.

Qingyang Kaihaoda Hydrogen Equipment Co., Ltd.:Issued a tender announcement for the EPC contract of its GW-scale water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment automated production project. The project is located in Gansu Province, involving the construction of 9 new buildings with a total floor area of 237,311.88 m².

Cornell Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.:The 300,000 mt/year sustainable aviation fuel project obtained filing approval. The project plans to externally purchase 900,000 mt of green methanol, utilize the existing 300,000 mt/year methanol-to-olefins production facility, and construct new units including an oligomerization unit, ultimately achieving an annual output of 300,000 mt of green aviation kerosene. By-products include 10,000 mt/year renewable naphtha and 5,000 mt/year diesel blending components.

Zhongneng Yida (Hebei) New Energy Co., Ltd.:Issued a tender for the installation subcontract of the hydrogenation unit for its new 400,000 mt/year sustainable aviation fuel hydrogenation project. Construction scope includes one 400,000 mt/year sustainable aviation fuel hydrogenation unit, a supporting 3,000 Nm³/h hydrogen production unit, a sulfur recovery complex (including a 12 mt/h sour water stripper and a 200 mt/year sulfur recovery unit), and main supporting utilities.

Inner Mongolia Yigao Coal Chemical Technology Co., Ltd.:The 320,000 mt/year green methanol technological transformation project obtained filing approval. The total project investment is 190.1 million yuan; the construction site is the Dalate Industrial Park in Jungar Banner, Ordos City; the scale involves pre-processing 240,000 mt of biomass charcoal raw material to produce 140,000 mt of conventional methanol and 180,000 mt of green methanol annually.

Policy Review

1. The first hydrogen energy industry standard NB/T 11810-2025, "Code for Preparation of Renewable Energy Power Hydrogen Production Project Planning Reports," compiled under the leadership of the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, was officially released and is scheduled to take effect on December 30, 2025.
2. The European Commission approved a €4 billion electrolyzer special fund, providing a 30% equipment cost subsidy for projects with an annual capacity of ≥500 MW, and set a 2030 efficiency target for green hydrogen project electrolyzers of ≥60% (LHV basis).
3. The European Commission issued the "Clean Industrial Protocol National Aid Framework," with new regulations explicitly requiring member states to prioritize support for "Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin" (RFNBOs) and ensuring public resources tilt toward low-carbon technologies through details such as fund allocation ratios and project timelines.

China Energy Group:Deepened cooperation with CLP Group of Hong Kong in areas including new energy and hydrogen energy.

China Energy Engineering Group (CEEG):The CEEG Songyuan Hydrogen Industrial Park project was selected for the first batch of hydrogen pilot list in the energy sector.

Henan Hydrodynamic Technology Service Co., Ltd.:Reached cooperation with Jiyuan Shuanghui on hydrogen application in logistics, expanding hydrogen use in cold chain logistics.

Goldwind Green Chemical Trading (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd.:Yingkou Maritime Safety Administration signed the "Green Methanol Storage and Transportation Safety and Unimpeded Cooperation Agreement" with Goldwind.

Beijing Hydrocycle Energy Technology Co., Ltd.:Hydrocycle Energy reached a strategic cooperation with Dahe Siji Cold Chain and signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

Guoke Green Hydrogen:Jin Feng, President of Xinhua News Agency Liaoning Branch, conducted a survey at Guoke Green Hydrogen.

Patent Applications

1. Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China) disclosed patent CN2025110028, developing a ceramic-based anion exchange membrane with a lab-tested lifespan of 80,000 hours.

2. Johnson Matthey (UK) filed patent WO2025109876, disclosing an Fe-Ni-Mo ternary non-precious metal catalyst formula with activity close to platinum-based materials.

Technology Footprints/Specifications

1. China Association for Promoting Industrial Development (CAPID) officially released the group standard "Multi-Pulse Thyristor Rectifiers for Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production" (Standard No. T/CAPID013—2025). The standard specifies technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of multi-pulse thyristor rectifiers for water electrolysis hydrogen production.

2. The group standard "Technical Specification for Wind-Solar-ESS Green Electricity Coupling Electrolysis Hydrogen Production" (No. T/CIEP 0272—2025) was released and implemented by China Industrial Environmental Protection Promotion Association. Zhongneng Dayou Energy Technology Co., Ltd. successfully developed a 100 kW-class PEM electrolyzer hydrogen production multi-field coupling test equipment.

3. GKN Powder Metallurgy announced the development of a new generation of high-performance, high-porosity, high-purity porous transport layers (HP-PTL) for proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis.

4. The first 220 kW high-safety solid-state hydrogen storage fuel cell emergency power generation system was officially launched and put into application demonstration at the Weiwang Youlian Wi-Fi Smart Terminal Industrial Park. This achievement marks a major breakthrough in China's core equipment localization in the hydrogen emergency power field.

5. Tongda Electromagnetic Energy Co., Ltd. independently developed and manufactured China's first off-grid medium-voltage DC 20 kV direct-hanging hydrogen production power supply (also known as "Hydrogen Yuan 1") successfully applied.

6. Nel Hydrogen (Norway) released the new-generation PEM electrolyzer HySyner500, with current density increased to 5 A/cm² and material cost per unit capacity reduced by 22%.

7. The offshore wind PEM hydrogen production and storage system sea trial delivered by Shanghai Hydrosun Chuanghe Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was successfully implemented at the Sanya Yazhou Bay offshore test site.

8. Hunan Longshen Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. launched a PEM water electrolysis sheet extrusion coater, significantly reducing expensive catalyst raw material costs.

9. The kick-off meeting for the landmark project "Split Module-Type Seawater Direct Electrolysis Hydrogen Production Without Desalination Technology and System Equipment" under the Guangdong Provincial Key R&D Program "New-Type Energy Storage and New Energy" was grandly held at Shenzhen University.

10. HydroGen Creations released the megawatt-level carbon composite plate stack at the 5th H₂-Eco International Hydrogen Ecology Annual Conference.
